Sparsholt Schools' Centre for Environmental Education

Low waste lunch challenge

Bring a healthy lunch that you will enjoy eating and that will not fill our rubbish bin with waste!

Can you take an empty lunchbox home?

Can you and your class put less rubbish in our bin than any other class to visit the Centre this term?

After lunch your waste will be weighed.

There is a prize each term for the class that produced the least waste per pupil.

Congratulations to City of Portsmouth Girls School (7B1) who were Spring term 2009 winners. Each person left just 1.9g of waste. Western Primary 3S and 3C came second and fourth with 2.0g and 2.8g of waste per person. Pennington Juniors were third with just 2.4g of waste per person.

Thanks to everyone who has taken part. Your efforts do make a difference. This year we have already saved over 100kg of compostable waste from landfill by your efforts sorting your waste. This has been added to our compost heaps to supply us with next years compost!
