Information for visitors
We offer a wide range of active outdoor programmes, some of them can be messy! Visits are planned with school staff to ensure that they fit with work that pupils are doing in school. Groups usually carry out some preparation work in school before visiting then undertake follow up work back at school.
If you are a secondary school pupil, you can use the secondary school visits section of our website to access useful resources. A virtual tour would also be helpful so that you can find out more about Sparsholt before and after your visit!
What to bring (top)
If you are visiting Sparsholt, here are some of the things you will need to bring:
- Outdoor footwear - all visitors need a change of shoes. Bring your clean wellington boots or old boots/shoes in a plastic carrier bag. A limited supply of wellingtons are available to borrow. Visitors should change out of dirty footwear and leave Sparsholt in clean shoes.
- Waterproof coat - all visitors need a waterproof coat, even in summer! Waterproof coats offer protection against the wind. We do have some that you can borrow.
- Long sleeved tops and trousers - to protect against nettles, brambles and ticks and also protect against sunburn. Shorts and skirts should not be worn.
- Warm clothing - layers of clothes work best then you can add/remove items to suit the weather! On cold days make sure you bring jumpers/fleeces, thick socks, hats and gloves as it is surprising how quickly you can become cold. On hot days, bring sun hats and skin protection.
- Camera - you can use cameras but please do not flash cameras directly at animals' eyes.
And please don't forget to bring your LUNCH! Try to make yourself a low waste lunch by choosing healthy options and using less wrappings for your food.
